Sonora Mulata brings with her the legacy of Afro-descendant rhythms, her inspiration comes from the persistence of diverse African cultures combined with the beats of electronic music. Her exploration and musical training in the world of beats comes from ska, reggae & dub; up to Drum n’ Bass, juke, garage and dubstep; but her expertise definitely shows within Afro-Latin rhythms: Salsa, Dembow, Cumbia, Funk Dance and Tribal. Her selections always show percussion, pre-hispanic singins, even allusions to protests of resistance, always looking for the roots of the dance itself.
Co-founder of several crews and labels, such as: Liga Mexicana del Bass, Berraca Bici Bass, currently collaborates with Mi Hermosa Vagina and MICG.
After more than 10 years of experience managing all sorts of events exposing Mexican and international talent, she’s shared the stage with names like Aliguagua, Isa GT, Lady Zunga, Javier Estrada, Mexican Jihad, Numa Crew, Tropikore, Princess Nokia, Scooby Dub, Loki da Trixa, HNRY, Panchita Danger, Oly, Kebra, Deeplinkin, 1OO1O, Vermilion Bird, Bangingclude, Relo, Mc Mamba, Reptilian Comander, and much more.
She currently writes a column and hosts a radio show for Cassete Blog with feminist overtones. She also manages the GIIIRLAS venues, presenting women who aim to gain visibility within the electronic music movement.
